This Spring has been one of the most challenging ones. In addition to the Covid-19 Pandemic and the increased workload that it has brought in my primary role as a church media director, I’m also in Grad School. Nevertheless, I’m grateful for the opportunity to learn and the ability to apply what I’m learning.
In the midst of it all, I’ve had the opportunity to serve as Designer and Creative Director for the all new Ayoo Africa magazine: a media platform highlighting the contributions of Africans in the Washington, DC Area. The task was daunting and much of the work happened in the wee hours of the morning after work, grad-school and family time, yet it was quite rewarding.
One of the things I’m the most proud of was the shoot we had to do for one of the featured stories. The shoot required four honorees in the shot together, but because of social distancing, we had to shoot them separate, and then composite them together digitally. I reached out to my photography friend and brother and he did an exceptional job with the shoot. The client was very pleased with the final version.
Through it all, I’m learning that many times, the rewarding things in life are found in the midst of challenges. When faced with these obstacles, don’t fret. Commit it to God and allow him to give you the strength to persevere!
Below is a promotional video of the magazine that I created for the client.
